Euphonia

A UNIQUE APPROACH TO GREEK SONGS AND COMPOSITIONS

The ensemble “Euphonia” presents a concert of Greek music, from traditional to contemporary, expressed through a unique musical approach.

One of the distinct features of the ensemble is the use of kanun, an instrument with ancient origin used throughout the centuries equally by Greek and Eastern cultures alike and which has made a comeback in the contemporary Greek music scene.

Euphonia music ensemble consists of very remarkable musicians: the cellist Katerina Giannitsiotis, Alkis Zopoglou who plays the kanun, the pianist Minas Koutsabasopoulos – who co-founded Euphonia with Alkis – and also the talented greek soprano Maria Kostraki who participates as a guest. The outcome is graced with distinct harmony and musical elegance.

The program of the concert introduces characteristic Greek music creations like Hatzidakis, Theodorakis, Xarchakos, Papakonstantinou etc. as well as traditional compositions and songs, taking the listener on a journey of enchanting sounds.
